Join us on this exciting trip to the newest erupting volcano in Iceland! On this amazing day we will explore our beloved Litli-Hrútur volcano and the surroundings!

Tour Description

We will meet at your chosen hotel or bus stop in Reykjavik at around 9am. 

On our way to Litli-Hrútur (location of the volcano) we will pass by a highly volcanic area – where thousand year old lava fields have overtaken the whole Reykjanes peninsula. 

Once we reach the parking lot, we will start our hike to the volcano. We will make our way to the newly formed lava fields, where we will be able to witness a real erupting volcano!

We set out on an exhilarating hike to witness the eruption up close. The walk is a total of almost 20 km, led by experienced guides, we navigate through rugged terrain and black volcanic landscapes. As we approach the erupting volcano, feel the earth beneath your feet rumble and watch in awe as molten lava shoots into the air. Capture this incredible sight with your camera or simply bask in the power of nature's fury.

While enjoying the beautiful views, we will stop for a chocolate break – where we will have HRAUN Chocolate – which means LAVA in Icelandic.

We will then make our way to the top of a mountain, where we will be able to see the volcano and the magnificent lava fields from the top.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION, PLEASE READ BELOW:
The total length of the tour is around 8-10 hours.
You are booking a "medium" difficulty tour.

Please keep in mind that:
-The hike is very long, about 9km each way, which means 2-3 hours walk each way on a gravel path;
- You might be exposed to volcanic air pollution if you get too close to the lower part of the active volcano site, please pay attention to your guide's safety recommendations;
-Hiking boots are mandatory. We have them available for rent in case they are needed;
- You need to bring enough snacks and water;
-The age limit on this tour is 12-70 -years old. Exceptions will be accepted if you are an expert hiker and think the above-mentioned duration and length are not a problem for you and you can keep up with the pace of the group.
