Embark on a wildlife adventure into Faxaflói Bay, the expansive coastal area just outside Reykjavík. This tour is dedicated to observing the diverse marine mammals and seabirds that thrive in Iceland's nutrient-rich waters. The vessel is staffed by an experienced crew and specially trained marine biologist guides who provide insightful commentary on the animals' behavior and the Icelandic ecosystem.
Throughout the journey, passengers search for common species such as the large humpback whales and smaller minke whales, alongside pods of playful white-beaked dolphins and shy harbour porpoises. While less frequent, sightings of killer whales (orcas), fin whales, and long-finned pilot whales are possible.
Beyond marine mammals, the bay is a crucial habitat for birdlife. Depending on the season, you can observe species like the charming Atlantic puffin (during the summer months), northern gannets, and arctic terns. The surrounding scenery, featuring the dramatic mountains on the horizon, provides a beautiful, natural backdrop to the open sea.

Meet us by Elding's Office in the Old Harbour no later than 15 minutes before the departure time of the tour to collect your ticket.

The meeting point is very close to the center of Reykjavík, so you can walk if the distance is not too long.
However if you wish to be picked up from any other part of Reykjavík, please select your pick-up location during the checkout.

- All tours can be cancelled up to 24 hours from the departure time by sending a written email to info@troll.is. You will receive a full refund except the 3% card fee. All cancellations requested less than 24 hours from the departure time are non refundable.

As the weather in Iceland can be quite unpredictable, we advise you that this tour is weather dependent. In case of unfavourable conditions in the bay, the itinerary may be altered (often resulting in a slightly longer tour) or the tour could get cancelled altogether. You will be notified of any changes as soon as possible, but we suggest that you have a look at our online whale diary to check for updates on your departure.
Since this is a wildlife tour we can never predict or guarantee sightings of any kind. Additionally, abide by a Code of Conduct for responsible whale watching and thus each encounter is on the animal's terms. This means that we may manoeuvre the boat in a certain way or keep our distance to minimise potential disturbance. In the event that we don't encounter any whales or dolphins, we do not offer refunds, but instead give our passengers a complimentary ticket to use another day.
