Tour Description

 

We will meet in Reykjavik, where we will come to pick you up with our Super Jeeps. We will then start our fun drive to one of the most famous routes in Iceland.

This is a 10 hour tour, so it is recommended to bring some snacks with you.

 

Our first stop on the Golden Circle is Þingvellir National Park, which is Iceland’s most historical site.

 

This is the place where you can see the North American and Eurasian Tectonic plates slowly moving apart from each other. The plates are constantly moving, each day, yet at a very low pace (around 2.5cm a year). Throughout millions of years, however, the tectonics have made a large gap between them, throughout the whole country.

 

After Þingvellir, we will continue heading inland towards an active Geysir, where we will also find boiling mud pools and hot springs. The Geysir normally erupts every 2-5 minutes, however as this is a natural phenomena, it might sometimes take longer.

 

We will afterwards continue to Gullfoss, where we will be greeted by one of Iceland’s most powerful waterfalls. This magnificent waterfall is the result of the melting glacier Langjökull, which is located nearby.

 

To end the tour in the most exciting way, we will drive to the mighty, second largest glacier in Iceland – Langjökull. We will hop onto the snowmobiles and drive through pure Icelandic highlands.

We will provide an overall, pair of gloves, a helmet, and other necessary equipment for you to enjoy this beautiful day in the highlands!

  • Dress according to the weather. In Iceland it’s always smart to dress in warm, waterproof clothes, weather changes can be sudden so expect the unexpected

What you need to bring
  • Bring snacks as this is a 10-hour tour. But don´t worry, you can buy food and drinks at Geysir Cantina and Gullfoss Cafe.
  • Bring a waterproof jacket and pants, headwear and gloves. Good outdoor hiking shoes are recommended.

What exactly is “The Golden Circle”?

The Golden Circle is a 300km long tourist route that loops from Reykjavik into the center of Iceland and then back. It covers Þingvellir National Park, the Geysir hot spring area and Gullfoss waterfall.

What should I bring to Golden Circle tours?

Golden Circle tours are one day tours that can get really long, Especially if you go snowmobiling.
We recommend you to wear warm clothes, warm and waterproof boots or shoes, a raincoat and gloves.
You will get a chance to buy food and drinks in most of the stops on our way but it is recommended to have some snacks and water with you during the whole day.

Are there any toilet stops?

Every time we stop there’s going to be a toilet close to us. However, sometimes we will be driving for around 1,5 hours, so make sure you use the restroom, if needed, before leaving for the next stop.

If I am pregnant, can I join a glacier hike?

This is a personal choice. We have had pregnant women on our glacier hikes and we always recommend you read the description of the activity to get a better idea. In any case, feel free to contact our Service Team for further questions and concerns.

At what time should I be ready?

Our pick up starts 30 minutes before departure. We try to do it as fast as we can so you don’t have to wait for us. It is impossible to know the exact minute that our driver will show up.

My pickup is late, what should I do?

It takes us around 30 minutes to pick up everybody. We never know if you are going to be the first pick up location or the last. We call for your patience and if there’s any kind of problem or delay we will let you know.
