Embark on a signature Icelandic adventure that combines a Monster Truck transfer with a glacier snowmobile ride. Departing from the Gullfoss area, you will travel into the remote highlands—an area inaccessible to standard rental cars—to reach Langjökull, Europe’s second-largest glacier. Highlights include driving across vast, ancient ice fields, experiencing the "Mars-like" volcanic landscapes of the interior, and enjoying panoramic views of the surrounding mountains. This tour is designed at a comfortable, relaxed pace, making it ideal for first-time riders and families.
This 4-hour excursion is a practical and seamless way to add a highland adventure to your Golden Circle itinerary. The tour meets at Gullfoss, located approximately 120 kilometers (a 2-hour drive) from Reykjavík. Since the route to the glacier involves rugged mountain tracks (F-roads), we provide transport in a specialized Monster Truck—a powerful 4x4 vehicle designed specifically for the deep snow and rocky terrain of the Icelandic interior.
Upon arriving at our glacier base camp on Langjökull, you will be provided with all necessary safety and weather gear, including insulated overalls, helmets, gloves, and overshoes. Our professional guides will give a factual briefing on how to safely operate the snowmobile, ensuring you feel confident before heading onto the ice.
The snowmobile portion lasts approximately one hour and follows a scenic route across the glacier’s white expanse. Unlike higher-speed "rush" tours, this trip focuses on the unique geology and atmosphere of the ice cap, allowing plenty of time to appreciate the silence and scale of the Arctic environment. You will navigate through a landscape of frozen craters and endless snow, often described by visitors as feeling like another planet. After the ride, the Monster Truck will return you safely to the Gullfoss meeting point.
