Yes, pregnant women up to 6 months can join our ice cave tours, but it’s important to consider the nature of each tour before deciding.
- Katla Ice Cave Tour: This tour is more physically demanding, as it includes both a bumpy jeep ride and a moderate hike to reach the cave. If you’re pregnant, especially nearing the 6-month mark, please carefully assess your physical condition before booking.
We do not recommend these tours for those who are 7 months pregnant or more due to safety and comfort concerns.
We highly recommend that you arrive at our meeting point 20 minutes before the departure time stated on your ticket. Please note that if you arrive after departure time, your place on the tour cannot be guaranteed or refunded.
The meeting point for this tour is in the parking lot of The Vik Inn. To find the exact location and directions, you can look up ”Tröll Expeditions Katla Ice Cave” on Google Maps . Your guide will be waiting for you by our Super jeep marked Troll Expeditions.
Driving time to Vík from Reykjavík is around 2 hours 30 minutes in good road and weather conditions.
• Not suitable for clients with mobility limitations. • Jeans are not recommended for glacier activities. Once it gets wet, it takes a long time to dry, leaving you cold. • Ice caves are a dynamic, ever-changing natural phenomenon. Each year new unique caves are formed in different areas of the glacier. The photos on our website and social media are from this season, but the ice cave we visit might have changed due to the dynamic nature of these formations. • There are several ice caves and ice formations available in the area; the access to certain locations might be affected by the weather conditions.
• All private tours can be cancelled 72 hours before the departure time by sending a written email to info@troll.is. You will receive a full refund except the 3% card fee. All cancellations requested less than 72 hours from the departure time are non refundable. • In the case of cancellation of the tour by the operator because of extreme weather, road conditions, or other factors, we will assist you with rebooking to another date or booking other activities when possible or provide a full refund.

You will need a car to join this activity. Silfra Fissure is located in the Thingvellir National Park – around 50 minutes away from Reykjavik. If you do not have a car, you can book this tour here with a transfer.
Once you get to the location, it is important to give your snorkeling guide a filled medical form (it is important to read the medical form before booking the tour). Your guide will then give you all the equipment – a thermal undersuit to keep you warm, a dry suit to keep you dry, fins to swim, and other necessary snorkeling equipment.
Once you get warm and ready, your guide will teach you how to snorkel, what to do if you get tired in the water, and other important information.
You can leave all your clothes and other items in our Tröll bags, which are kept securely at all times. You will then start walking towards Silfra with your dry suit on. The walk to Silfra is short, roughly 5 minutes long.
