Classic Golden Circle
All Year Tour

Tour Description

This 8-hour day tour provides a complete experience of the classic Golden Circle attractions, enhanced by two additional, unique natural sites. Highlights include the geological and historical wonders of Þingvellir National Park (tectonic rift), the erupting Strokkur geyser at the Geysir Geothermal Area, and the powerful Gullfoss waterfall. The tour also visits the secluded, sapphire-blue Brúarfoss Waterfall and the strikingly colored volcanic lake inside the Kerid Crater.

Join this best-selling, full-day minibus tour departing from Reykjavík, designed for an easy difficulty level suitable for all travelers. The tour begins with pickup and heads directly to the celebrated Golden Circle route.

Your first major stop is Þingvellir National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage site where the North American and Eurasian tectonic plates are visibly pulling apart. This area is also historically vital as the site of Iceland's first parliament, established in 930 AD. Next, you will visit the Geysir Geothermal Area to witness the reliable eruption of the Strokkur geyser, which shoots water up to 35 meters every 5–10 minutes.

Beyond the classic stops, this tour includes a visit to the Brúarfoss Waterfall, often called "Iceland's Bluest Waterfall," where silky, sapphire-blue water contrasts sharply with dark lava rocks. You will then see the magnificent Gullfoss ("Golden Waterfall"), where the glacial river plunges into a deep canyon. The final highlight is the Kerid Volcanic Crater, known for its unique red walls surrounding an aquamarine-blue lake. The entire journey is guided in English, and you will return to Reykjavík in the early evening.

Map and Itinerary

Day tour : Golden Circle, Bruarfoss and Kerid Volcano crater

This is a best-selling, full-day, small-group tour that combines Iceland's most famous natural attractions with two unique, lesser-known gems.

The tour focuses on the classic Golden Circle route but enhances the experience by adding two notable stops Bruarfoss Waterfall and Kerid Volcano Crater

Please note: The itinerary is subject to change due to weather, road conditions, and availability of activities. Your guide will always ensure the best and safest experience possible.

1

Pickup in Reykjavik

Your adventure starts 9:00 AM in Reykjavík; after meeting your group, you will begin a comfortable minibus journey through the Golden Circle, complete with local stories and photo tips from your guide.

Please note: We advise our participants to be ready at their designated pickup location at 9:00 am and wait for the bus to arrive around 9:05am till 9:45am depending on road and weather conditions.

2

Thingvellir National Park

Þingvellir National Park is an extraordinary place where you can see the visible gap created by the North American and Eurasian tectonic plates as they drift apart—a massive geologic event rarely seen so clearly anywhere else. In addition to its stunning geology, Þingvellir boasts Iceland's largest natural lake, which supports diverse fish and bird life, earning it the nickname "The Galapagos of the North."

The park's significance is also deeply historical and cultural. Its name, which translates to "Parliament Plains," comes from the fact that it was the original location of Iceland's parliament (the Althing) when it was founded in 930 AD. This makes Þingvellir a must-see for anyone interested in Icelandic heritage.

3

Bruarfoss Waterfall

Often considered a hidden gem within Iceland's breathtaking landscapes, Brúarfoss is famous as "Iceland's Bluest Waterfall."

While it may be smaller than other famous cascades, its unique beauty lies in the serenity of its setting. The silky, sapphire-blue waters create a surreal landscape as they cascade over dark lava rocks. This vibrant blue stands in stunning contrast to the surrounding black rock and the bright green moss, making it a picturesque location perfect for nature lovers and photographers seeking to explore Iceland's untouched wilderness.

4

Geysir Geothermal Area

The Geysir Geothermal Area is a stunning location full of powerful hot springs. Its star attraction is the Strokkur geyser, which reliably erupts a spectacular column of water up to 35 meters high every 5–10 minutes.

The name for all erupting hot springs—geyser—actually originates from this very location! It was inspired by the area's oldest and now dormant spring, simply named Geysir.

5

Gullfoss Waterfall

Your journey concludes at one of Iceland's most magnificent sights: Gullfoss, the "Golden Waterfall." This awe-inspiring waterfall is created by the melting water of Langjökull, Iceland's second-largest glacier, which dramatically cascades into a deep canyon.

On sunny days, the dense mist rising from the falls catches the light, often creating a stunning rainbow—making it the ideal spot for breathtaking photos. You can even glimpse the massive Langjökull Glacier in the distance!

6

Kerid Volcano Crater

Make sure to include Kerid Volcanic Crater on your Golden Circle itinerary! This remarkable, approximately 6,500-year-old crater in South Iceland is famous for its vibrant contrast of colors. Imagine standing above this geological wonder, which measures 270 meters in circumference, 170 meters wide, and 55 meters deep. The steep inner walls are composed of dramatic red volcanic rock, providing a striking backdrop to the shallow lake within. The water itself is an incredible aquamarine blue, a color created by the minerals in the surrounding soil, all framed by patches of vibrant green moss.

With most of its caldera still intact, Kerid offers an easy hike around the rim, giving visitors a perfect close-up view of this unique color palette.

7

Back To Reykjavík

Our return to the Reykjavik capital area is planned for approximately 5 pm; however, the schedule order and return time may be subject to changes based on weather and road conditions.
