Glacier Rush - Snowmobile Tour
Tour Description
Experience the most powerful snowmobile adventure in Iceland with the Glacier Rush tour. This excursion features high-performance Yamaha Viper mountain machines, boasting 140 horsepower—double the strength of standard tour models. Highlights include a high-speed, single-seater ride across the vast plateau of Langjökull, Europe’s second-largest glacier, and a thrilling Super Truck transfer from the Gullfoss meeting point into the rugged Icelandic highlands.
The Glacier Rush is a specialized snowmobile tour designed for those seeking a faster, more technical riding experience on the ice. Departing from Gullfoss, located approximately 120 kilometers (about 1.5 to 2 hours) from Reykjavík, this tour trades the standard sightseeing pace for an adrenaline-focused journey across the Langjökull glacier.
Participants operate powerful Yamaha Viper 1000cc snowmobiles. These are single-rider machines, meaning every guest drives their own vehicle rather than sharing with a passenger. Because these snowmobiles are built for performance and can handle deep powder and varied terrain, the group sizes are kept small. This allow our expert guides to tailor the route to the day’s specific weather and snow conditions, reaching remote areas of the glacier that standard tours rarely visit.
The experience begins with a transfer in a Super Truck, a heavy-duty 4x4 vehicle designed to navigate the unpaved "F-roads" and mountain tracks leading to the glacier base camp. Upon arrival, you will receive a comprehensive safety briefing and professional-grade gear, including a warm insulated overall, helmet, and gloves.
This tour is ideally suited for travelers with some experience operating recreational vehicles (such as ATVs or motorcycles) and who are comfortable with higher speeds. A valid driver's license is mandatory for all participants. By moving faster and further into the wilderness, you will experience the scale of the Icelandic highlands just as the locals do on their private machines.
