Tour Description

This fully guided, 6-day minibus tour offers a pragmatic and comprehensive exploration of Iceland, covering all major regions—the Golden Circle, South Coast, East Fjords, and North Iceland—in a single trip. The journey starts and ends in Reykjavík, providing a structured way to experience the country's diverse geology and history without the stress of independent planning

The journey is packed with guaranteed geological and historical sightings: Þingvellir National Park (tectonic rift and historic parliament), the erupting Strokkur geyser, and the colossal Gullfoss Waterfall. Along the South Coast, you will visit the waterfalls Seljalandsfoss (walk-behind) and Skógafoss, and the dramatic Reynisfjara Black Sand Beach. The tour includes three key guided activities: a hands-on Glacier Hike on Sólheimajökull (with all safety gear), an exciting Whale Watching boat tour from Hauganes, and a visit to a natural Ice Cave (either Vatnajökull or Katla, depending on conditions). Further north, you explore the geothermal area of Námaskarð, the unique lava pillars of Dimmuborgir near Lake Mývatn, and the powerful Dettifoss and beautiful Goðafoss waterfalls. Throughout the trip, your guide will actively hunt for the Northern Lights (September–March).

Map and Itinerary

Day 1: Golden Circle Wonders & Northern Lights Hunt

Explore the iconic Golden Circle landmarks—Þingvellir National Park, the erupting Strokkur geyser, and Gullfoss Waterfall—before hunting for the Northern Lights in the clear, dark sky.

1

Pickup in Reykjavik

Your 6-day adventure starts promptly at 8:00 AM in Reykjavík; after meeting your group, you will begin a comfortable minibus journey through the Golden Circle, complete with local stories and photo tips from your guide.

2

Þingvellir

At Þingvellir National Park, the first stop of the day, you will witness the stunning sight of volcanic fields and mountains blanketed in snow. This UNESCO World Heritage site is uniquely beautiful, showcasing the exposed North American and Eurasian tectonic plates moving apart and holding significant cultural heritage as the founding location of Iceland's first parliament in 930 AD.

3

Haukadalur

Next, we visit the Haukadalur Geothermal Area, a lively valley where the famous Strokkur geyser erupts every few minutes, shooting hot water high into the air. This stop allows you to experience the powerful energy of Iceland's nature up close, and you will also see the Great Geysir, which named all geysers worldwide.

4

Gullfoss, The Golden Waterfall

The Golden Circle itinerary will end at the famously stunning Gullfoss ("The Golden Waterfall"), where the Hvítá glacial river dramatically plunges down a 32 meter drop across two tiers, giving the entire route its name.

Horseback Riding

Wrap up your day with an optional, peaceful horseback riding tour on a gentle Icelandic horse through the quiet countryside (Note: this activity is not suitable for individuals over 120 kgs or those not in good physical health).

Accommodation: Hotel Drangslid (or similar)

From there you can see rock formations Reynisdrangar and Dýrhólaey Peninsula rise gracefully from the ocean providing an astonishing sight and shelter for birds like the razorbills.

4

Vík

Finally, your day concludes in the charming village of Vík í Mýrdal, Iceland's southernmost town.
