Itinerary
The Golden Circle
Activity: We will go to hunt for Northern Lights!
Day 1:
Join us for a wonderful day trip to see Iceland's most famous sights, known as the Golden Circle. We start at Thingvellir National Park, a truly special place. Here, you can stand in a valley where two of the Earth's main land plates are slowly moving apart. This park is not only a natural wonder but also a historic spot, as it's where Iceland's first parliament was founded hundreds of years ago. The area is filled with beautiful mountains and volcanic fields, giving you the perfect start to your adventure.
Next, we visit the Haukadalur Geothermal Area, a lively valley full of hot springs. Get your camera ready for the famous Strokkur geyser, which erupts and shoots hot water high into the air every few minutes. It's an amazing sight you won't want to miss. You will also see the Great Geysir, the first geyser ever named, which gave its name to all geysers around the world. This stop shows you the powerful and wild energy of Iceland's nature up close.
Our last stop on the Golden Circle is the beautiful Gullfoss, or "Golden Waterfall." You will feel the power of the water as a big glacial river rushes down two levels into a deep canyon. It's a truly spectacular view and a great way to end the main part of the tour.
If you chose to add on the extra activity, your day will finish with a peaceful horseback riding tour. You’ll get to ride a gentle Icelandic horse through the quiet countryside, a perfect and relaxing end to a day full of incredible sights.
***Please note: not suitable for people over 120 kgs or people in bad shape.
As the day ends, you’ll have the opportunity for a nighttime adventure. If the weather allows, you will get to search for the breathtaking Northern Lights in the clear, starry sky. Our hotel for the night is located far from city lights, giving you the best chance to see this incredible natural phenomenon. If the lights don’t appear, don't worry, you still have several more nights to try to catch them!
