Katla Ice Cave & Ziplining in Vík

A zipline ride is a great adventure for all those who love the thrill of doing something challenging but, at the same time, very safe. The tour includes a hike through a breathtaking river canyon and four zipline rides: 120, 240, 30, and 140 meters long. The scenery below you is breathtaking, and you will have a birds-eye view of it as you whiz down the zipline.

Tour Description

Start your day by taking a Super jeep ride to the roots of Katla Volcano, where we will take a short walk to the amazing Katla Volcano Ice Cave. The surroundings are breathtaking, and the Ice Cave is one of a kind. It is quite a large cave and has several beautiful sights and formations to explore. To get there, you'll take a ride into the highlands on our 4x4 Super Jeep as you admire the majestic mountains and fields of moss. You will explore the mighty Dragon Glass caves of ash and ice.

Our Ziplines are next to the village of Vík in South Iceland, surrounded by beautiful hills and valleys. It is not directly accessible by vehicle, so after we meet at our base at Víkurbraut 5, we drive for 5 minutes, then hike for another 5 minutes at a moderate pace to reach the take-off platform for the first zip, named Little Rush. We will give you detailed safety instructions and ensure you are comfortable with what to do during the zipline so you will enjoy the ride to the fullest and stay safe. Once you’re ready, you wait your turn, and the next thing you know, you are zipping above the canyon, heart pumping with excitement and having the best birds-eye view of the area you couldn’t imagine beforehand.

Our second zipline, The Gentle Giant, is just around the corner from the first. It’s our longest ride, 240 meters, and is often named the prettiest. When everyone has safely finished the two first ziplines, it’s time for a short hike (about 10 minutes) through the unique rock formation of Grafargil (Grave Canyon) to the next activity, Leap of Faith, our shortest line, and we do things here slightly differently. We won’t tell you more for now because we don’t want to spoil your surprise. Lastly follows the fourth zipline that we call Big Rush, which will take you over a stunning waterfall named Hundafoss (Dog’s waterfall). To finish the experience, we might offer a short hike back to our base if the weather permits.
