Snowmobile Adventure

Tour Description

Explore Iceland’s most famous landmarks on a 100-minute Super Jeep adventure. Key highlights include standing between the North American and Eurasian tectonic plates at Þingvellir National Park, witnessing the frequent eruptions of the Strokkur geyser, and visiting the powerful Gullfoss waterfall. The day concludes with an exhilarating snowmobile ride across the white snowfields of Langjökull, Europe’s second-largest glacier, using specialized mountain vehicles to reach the ice.

This 10-hour excursion offers a practical and comprehensive way to experience the Golden Circle and the Icelandic highlands in a single day. The tour begins with a pickup in Reykjavík in a Super Jeep—a specialized 4x4 vehicle equipped with large tires designed to handle Iceland's rugged interior terrain and snow.

The first stop is Þingvellir National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage site of immense historical and geological importance. Here, you can see the rift valley created by the pulling apart of the North American and Eurasian tectonic plates. We then travel inland to the Geysir Geothermal Area. You will observe boiling mud pools and the Strokkur geyser, which typically erupts every 5 to 10 minutes, sending water high into the air.

Next, we visit Gullfoss, or the "Golden Waterfall." This massive cascade is fed by the melting ice of the Langjökull glacier and drops in two stages into a deep canyon. Following the waterfall visit, the Super Jeep leaves the main roads to head into the highlands toward the glacier itself.

The final activity is a guided snowmobile tour on the Langjökull ice cap. Upon arrival at the glacier base camp, you will be provided with essential safety gear, including a warm overall, gloves, and a helmet. You will then drive across the glacier's surface, offering a rare view of the Arctic wilderness. Because this is a full-day trip into remote areas, it is recommended to bring snacks and wear sturdy, waterproof footwear.
