Private VIP Golden Circle Day Tour-8 Hour Tour: Optional Extra Activities On An Extended 12 Hour Day Tour

Flexible and Personalize

Tour Description

Explore Iceland’s most famous landmarks on a flexible, private schedule. Highlights include the continental rift at Þingvellir National Park, the reliable eruptions of the Strokkur geyser, and the massive Gullfoss waterfall. You will also visit the sapphire-colored waters of Brúarfoss and the colorful Kerið volcanic crater. As a private experience, the itinerary is customizable with optional add-ons like snorkeling in Silfra, visiting the Blue Lagoon, or meeting Icelandic horses at a local farm.

This full-day private tour covers the Golden Circle, a 300-kilometer (190-mile) route starting and ending in Reykjavík. It is designed for travelers who prefer a flexible pace and wish to avoid the schedules of large tour buses.

The journey begins at Þingvellir National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage site located 45 minutes from the capital. Here, you can walk between the North American and Eurasian tectonic plates. This site is also where Iceland’s parliament was founded in 930 AD, making it a central location for both geology and history.

Next, the tour moves to the Haukadalur geothermal area, home to the famous Strokkur geyser. Unlike many natural wonders, Strokkur is highly predictable, erupting every 5 to 10 minutes. Nearby is Gullfoss, a two-tier waterfall fed by the Langjökull glacier. On clear days, the glacier is visible on the horizon.

A unique feature of this tour is the stop at Brúarfoss, known as "Iceland’s bluest waterfall." While smaller than Gullfoss, it is famous for its bright sapphire water flowing through dark volcanic rock. The final standard stop is Kerið, a volcanic crater filled with deep blue water and surrounded by vivid red slopes.

Because this is a private tour, you have the option to include specialized activities. You can add snorkeling in the Silfra fissure, relaxing at the Fontana Spa or Blue Lagoon, or visiting a local farm. The tour is conducted in a comfortable vehicle with an experienced guide, providing a practical and comprehensive introduction to Iceland's natural landscape.

2

Thingvellir National Park

Þingvellir National Park is an extraordinary place where you can see the visible gap created by the North American and Eurasian tectonic plates as they drift apart—a massive geologic event rarely seen so clearly anywhere else. In addition to its stunning geology, Þingvellir boasts Iceland's largest natural lake, which supports diverse fish and bird life, earning it the nickname "The Galapagos of the North."

The park's significance is also deeply historical and cultural. Its name, which translates to "Parliament Plains," comes from the fact that it was the original location of Iceland's parliament (the Althing) when it was founded in 930 AD. This makes Þingvellir a must-see for anyone interested in Icelandic heritage.

3

Bruarfoss Waterfall

Often considered a hidden gem within Iceland's breathtaking landscapes, Brúarfoss is famous as "Iceland's Bluest Waterfall."

While it may be smaller than other famous cascades, its unique beauty lies in the serenity of its setting. The silky, sapphire-blue waters create a surreal landscape as they cascade over dark lava rocks. This vibrant blue stands in stunning contrast to the surrounding black rock and the bright green moss, making it a picturesque location perfect for nature lovers and photographers seeking to explore Iceland's untouched wilderness.

4

Geysir Geothermal Area

The Geysir Geothermal Area is a stunning location full of powerful hot springs. Its star attraction is the Strokkur geyser, which reliably erupts a spectacular column of water up to 35 meters high every 5–10 minutes.

The name for all erupting hot springs—geyser—actually originates from this very location! It was inspired by the area's oldest and now dormant spring, simply named Geysir.

5

Gullfoss Waterfall

Your journey concludes at one of Iceland's most magnificent sights: Gullfoss, the "Golden Waterfall." This awe-inspiring waterfall is created by the melting water of Langjökull, Iceland's second-largest glacier, which dramatically cascades into a deep canyon.

On sunny days, the dense mist rising from the falls catches the light, often creating a stunning rainbow—making it the ideal spot for breathtaking photos. You can even glimpse the massive Langjökull Glacier in the distance!

Optional Extra Activities: Snorkeling in Silfra

Optional activity that can be added on your Golden Circle Private Tour. Snorkel in the Silfra Fissure, where filtered glacier water provides over 100 meters of visibility. A certified PADI Dive Master will provide a safety briefing and high-quality gear—including a drysuit and thermal layer—to keep you comfortable in the 2°C–4°C water. This experience allows you to float directly between the North American and Eurasian tectonic plates.

Optional Extra Activities: The Blue Lagoon

Entry is included, allowing you to relax in mineral-rich, milky-blue waters renowned for their beneficial skin properties.

Optional Extra Activity: Fontana Spa

Experience natural geothermal steam baths directly above a bubbling geyser. This location allows you to unwind in varying water temperatures or refresh in the adjacent lake for a traditional Icelandic wellness experience

Optional Extra Activity: Farm Visit

A farm is famous for its on-site restaurant, where you can dine among the tomato plants. The menu focuses on fresh ingredients, featuring their signature tomato soup, home-baked bread, and unique items like tomato beer and tomato-based desserts. It is a practical and popular stop for lunch or a quick refreshment during a day tour.

Optional Extra Activity: Horse back riding

Will have the opportunity to experience the tölt, a unique fourth gait specific to the Icelandic breed known for its smoothness. It is an ideal stop for those looking to combine a traditional outdoor activity with the scenic landscapes of South Iceland.
