Snorkeling in Silfra with transfer from Reykjavik - Free Underwater Photos
Tour Description
This tour focuses entirely on the unique experience of snorkeling in the Silfra Fissure, located in Þingvellir National Park. The main highlight is floating directly within the rift between the North American and Eurasian tectonic plates in water that boasts a visibility of over 100 meters, making it some of the clearest water in the world. All necessary equipment (drysuit, thermal undersuit, fins, etc.) and guidance are included, and complimentary GoPro photos of your experience are provided afterward.
Join this focused snorkeling trip to the Silfra Fissure, located approximately 50 minutes from Reykjavík. The tour begins with pickup from your designated location. Upon arrival, you will meet your guide and receive all necessary snorkeling equipment, including a drysuit to keep you dry and a thermal undersuit for warmth, despite the cold glacier-filtered water.
Before entering the water, it is crucial that all participants complete and submit the Snorkeling Medical Statement (which must be read prior to booking). Your guide will then provide a briefing on safety procedures and snorkeling techniques.
Silfra is a unique geological site where the North American and Eurasian tectonic plates slowly separate underwater. The water here is sourced from the melted ice of the Langjökull glacier and filtered through volcanic rock, giving it exceptional clarity. You will walk a short distance (about 5 minutes) to the entry point before entering the crystal-clear water to experience swimming directly between the continents. Your personal belongings will be stored securely in Tröll bags during the activity. Complimentary GoPro photos taken by your guide will be shared with you after the tour.
