Tour Description

This 11-hour day tour combines the classic geological marvels of the Golden Circle with a relaxing visit to the renowned Blue Lagoon geothermal spa (Comfort admission included). Highlights feature the historic Þingvellir National Park (where you stand between two continents), the erupting Strokkur geyser at the Geysir Geothermal Area, and the powerful Gullfoss waterfall. Unlike many other tours, it also includes a stop at the vivid Kerid Volcanic Crater Lake, providing a complete and luxurious sightseeing experience.

Join this easy, all-year-round day trip from Reykjavík for an efficient and comfortable way to see Iceland’s most famous attractions. Transportation is provided via a premium minibus with an experienced guide.

The tour focuses first on the Golden Circle route. You will begin at Þingvellir National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage site of immense geological and historical importance, where you can walk along the fissure separating the North American and Eurasian tectonic plates. Next, observe the raw energy of the Geysir Geothermal Area, home to the reliably erupting Strokkur geyser. You will then proceed to the majestic Gullfoss ("Golden Waterfall"), where glacial meltwater plunges dramatically into a deep canyon. This tour also ensures a stop at the uniquely colorful Kerid Volcanic Crater Lake, framed by red rock and aquamarine water.

The final highlight of the day is the world-famous Blue Lagoon (Bláa Lónið). Your admission is included, granting you time to relax and enjoy the therapeutic, mineral-rich milky-blue waters, known for their skin benefits. This tour efficiently pairs the active sightseeing of the Golden Circle with the unparalleled relaxation of the Blue Lagoon. (Please note that the duration is approximately 11 hours, and the tour runs regardless of weather, though itinerary stops may be adjusted for safety.)

Map and Itinerary

Day Tour: Golden Circle & Blue Lagoon-Bustravel

This 11-hour guided tour offers the most comprehensive and value-driven single-day experience, pairing Iceland's core geological wonders with the ultimate relaxation. You gain the efficiency of covering the entire Golden Circle—including the rift valley at Þingvellir, the erupting Geysir, and the mighty Gullfoss—plus the unique sight of the Kerid Volcanic Crater. Crucially, this itinerary is capped with a guaranteed admission to the world-renowned Blue Lagoon, ensuring you maximize both your sightseeing and therapeutic time in Iceland without the hassle of separate bookings or transportation.

Please note: The itinerary is subject to change due to weather, road conditions, and availability of activities. Your guide will always ensure the best and safest experience possible.

1

Pickup in Reykjavik

Your adventure starts 8:00 AM in Reykjavík; after meeting your group, you will begin a comfortable minibus journey through the Golden Circle , complete with local stories and photo tips from your guide.

Please note: We advise our participants to be ready at their designated pickup location at 8:00 am and wait for the bus to arrive around 8:05am till 8:45am depending on road and weather conditions.

2

Thingvellir National Park

A UNESCO World Heritage site where you can stand between the North American and Eurasian tectonic plates—the exposed Mid-Atlantic Ridge. This site is historically vital as the location of the world's first parliament, established in 930 AD. The park features the beautiful Öxarárfoss waterfall and deep fissures carved by glacial water, offering panoramic views of both geological wonder and Icelandic heritage.

3

Geysir Geothermal Area

Is an active region of steam vents, colorful ponds, and the famous Strokkur geyser, which erupts reliably every 5–10 minutes, shooting water up to 20 meters high. While the original Great Geysir is now dormant, the area offers a spectacular view of Iceland's raw geothermal energy. Visitors must stay on designated paths due to the extremely high temperature of the boiling water.

4

Gullfoss Waterfall

Gullfoss Waterfall, also known as the “Golden Waterfalls,” a magnificent, wide drop that first runs down 11 meters (36 ft), then 21 meters (68 ft), roaring to the depth of the canyon, with cliffs rising to 70 meters (230 ft). You will feel its forceful presence when you approach the waterfall and admire the stunning visuals and intriguing history. Gullfoss’s river is fed by the Hvítá river, or white river, originating from the Langjökull glacier.

5

Kerið Volcanic Crater Lake

Is a popular Golden Circle detour featuring a striking color contrast: a deep bowl of red volcanic rock surrounding a lake of brilliant aquamarine blue water, formed approximately 6,500 years ago when the magma chamber collapsed; a pathway around the rim allows visitors to easily admire this unique geological site.

6

Blue Lagoon

The highlight of the day is your relaxing time at the world-renowned Blue Lagoon (Bláa Lónið), a geothermal spa famous for its milky blue water rich in silica and minerals with therapeutic skin benefits. Your admission is included in the tour, allowing you to enjoy a relaxing soak in the lagoon, which sometimes offers a chance to see the Northern Lights in the winter sky.

7

Back to Reykjavík

We will then start heading back to Reykjavik and are expected to arrive around 8pm, though this may be subject to change depending on weather and road conditions.
