This is a large, unique cave where you will explore stunning formations of black ash and blue ice. Safety gear, including helmets, headlamps, and crampons, is provided by your expert guide, who will share facts about Katla’s volcanic history.
Break for Lunch: After the glacier tour, you will have time to grab lunch (not included) before moving to your next activity.
Part 2: Vík Zipline Adventure The second adventure begins at our base in Víkurbraut 5. We start with a short 5-minute drive, followed by a 5-minute hike to the first take-off platform, "Little Rush." The zipline tour includes a hike through the unique rock formation of Grafargil (Grave Canyon) and features four rides: 120m, the 240m-long "The Gentle Giant," a surprise line called "Leap of Faith," and the final line, "Big Rush," which flies you over Hundafoss waterfall. Spectators watch from a safe distance as authentic lava, sourced from the 1918 Katla eruption, is heated to an incredible 1100∘C (2000∘F) and poured into a showroom. You will feel the intense heat and safely perceive the sheer power of molten lava through sight, sound, and sensation. Security goggles are provided for everyone. The show is highly educational, explaining how the lava cools to form volcanic glass and providing factual insights into Iceland's geology.
