Special offer on Private tours in April, May & June - SEE HERE

SafeTravel has issued an announcement regarding sulfur smell in the Sólheimajökull glacier area. At Tröll Expeditions, we’d like to inform that all our tours from Sólhemajökull are safe regardless of this smell. Furthermore, we always advice visitors to go on a guided tours rather than alone when traveling as weather, nature, and road conditions are unpredictable in Iceland.

The announcement goes as follows:

Sólheimajökull: Sulfur smell is at Sólheimajökull and river Jökulsá á Sólheimasandi. People are advised to stay away from the river banks and not to be in lower areas where gasses can accumulate.

Dear traveler

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic Tröll Expeditions has taken the disappointing, but necessary, decision to limit most tours from now until April 16th in line with the Schengen border closing. Iceland has not been classified as a high-risk country, but is of course nonetheless affected by travel bans around the world. If you already have a tour with us but need to cancel, please send us an email at [email protected] If you already have a tour booked and wish to see if the tour is still running, you can also confirm this via [email protected] We wish all our friends out there the very best and look forward to seeing you all when these turbulent times pass. Until then, please stay safe and healthy.

Best regards,
The Troll Team
